21 MARCH, INTERNATIONAL DOWN SYNDROME DAY 2024: LET’S END STEREOTYPES!
Since 2011 this day serves to remind us how people with Down Syndrome are subjected to stereotypes which see theme as ‘objects of charity’, eternal kids unable to do anything in autonomy. It is an obsolete thinking mode which is, above all, denigrating. In today’s reality, people with Down Syndrome are aware of what concerns them and with the right and appropriate supports, claim in person the right to be included in all domains of society, have a proper work, access to education without obstacles, decide where, how and with whom to live, also in an optic of ‘During Us, After Us’, have a Quality Life.
ANffAS Nazionale e noi di ANffAS Parma pensiamo che l’inclusione e la parità di diritti e opportunità dovrebbero presto diventare realtà concreta e quotidiana nella nostra società, sorpassando finalmente gli stereotipi.
